I am an artist based in West London. I work on Johnsons Island in Brentford where the River Thames meets the Grand Union Canal. Johnsons Island Artists is a collective of around 23 painters, crafts people, milliners and musicians. I've never been taught to paint so I have to trust my intuition. When I start a new painting I never really know where it's going to go next but I know how I want it to feel. Each one is a new adventure. I tend to paint from nature and I paint for calm. For me painting is a meditation. More about process than outcome. I take inspiration from Japanese ink painting, abstract expressionists and Scandinavian mid 19th century painters.
