Sarah Stanley Mosaics
I create original contemporary mosaics, each work is completely unique; handmade using traditional techniques using materials as diverse as vitreous glass, porcelain, ceramic, mirror, stone and marble.
My mosaic pieces are predominantly abstract and with a limited colour palette, using shade, tone, hue, texture, cutting and laying to create depth and interest and to emphasise the unique qualities of each material.
I have been making mosaic pieces for more than 20 years and I am continually inspired by the huge potential of the materials. Their colours, textures and the vagaries of hand-cutting mean that every single piece will be completely different – a marriage of the head, the heart, the hands and the materials.
Most of my work is for domestic interiors and gardens both art pieces for the wall and 3D sculptural items as well as more practical decorative pieces such as large serving platters and tables, although I do make the occasional corporate and public art pieces.
My pieces are currently available in several shops and galleries in London, Surrey, Oxford, Salisbury, York and Cumbria. I also work extensively to commission with new works recently created for customers in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Australia and North America. I also teach 6 weekend workshops a year.
