I love volunteers.  

I enjoy volunteering.

It was from my parents that I learnt the importance of community. They were part of the Windrush Generation whose survival in a strange and often hostile country depended on strong community links.  

My mother through her volunteering taught me the value of and giving to the community.

I have volunteered in a wide range of roles in a wide range of organisations. I have been among other things an event organiser, helpline operator, cook, deaf job club coordinator, litter picker, school governor, gardener, reader for the blind, theatre companion, prison letter writer and general dogs body!

I have learnt and developed skills. I have met people I would never have met any other way. I have been offered opportunities. I have made friends and had great times volunteering.

Creative Mile is a wonderful initiative encouraging everyone to explore their creativity.

My role as volunteer coordinator is to ensure that Creative Mile volunteers have a fulfilling experience. It's a role I'm proud of.
